Smash Logo SQ

SMASH stands for St. Michael’s Association of School Helpers, a dedicated group of parents who raise money over the year to buy extra equipment and opportunities for their children at the school. SMASH invites each and every parent to join them, not only to work to raise funds, but also to have fun planning and taking part in social events.

The chairs are:

Upcoming Events

  • SMASH cafe Friday 23rd February 9.00am in the school hall
  • SMASH BINGO Friday 9th March 7.30pm in the school hall

Please join us for our next SMASH meeting Wednesday 28th February in the Ex-servicemen’s club at 7.30pm.

We’d love new ideas and extra help at our events raising funds for our children’s school.

Who can get involved?

Anyone who is linked with St. Michael’s – we mainly have parents on the team currently but are also actively supported by teachers and the headteacher.

How much time does it take?

As little or as much as you want – really – some parents just help at one or two events over the year, others take notes at our meetings or bank the money, some count the vouchers brought into school – it’s up to you, but we would welcome any time you can give, however irregular that might have to be.

When are the meetings?

We probably meet on average once a half term. Meetings are really informal – we tend to gather in the staff room at school for a coffee in the evening around 7.30pm but sometimes we meet at 9am after dropping the children at school. It varies to suit those on the team.

How do I get in touch with SMASH?

The easiest way is to look at the list of SMASH members is to ask your child’s teacher to point out one of the SMASH team members or speak to Fiona in the office.

What’s in it for me?

Most of us get involved because we can see the direct benefit for our children –  we fund the transport for school trips and Wow days at school which hugely benefit the children; we have bought equipment for the Forest School lessons which the children love, an interactive smartboard for Beech class and we regularly buy extra ‘fun’ equipment for each classroom like more Bee bots!

But we have fun too! It’s a great way to meet other parents with children in other classes and we go out for a meal together at least once a year too!

So, please get involved – it’s a great team to be part of!
