The School Council is made up of two children from each class in the main school. Every child is given the option to stand for election and then serious elections take place. Last year’s school council were instrumental in changing the way lunchtime playtimes were organised. They consulted their classmates and brought ideas to council meetings. Then they negotiated their wishes with the Midday Supervisors, making sure that everything was fair for everyone.
This year’s council will continue to keep an eye on playtimes, and have already brought a sensible list of improvements we could make to meetings. They have also decided they would like to continue to help our Cambodian friends and will be organising sales of toys, books and so on to raise money to pay for the rice feeding programme for a whole year.
